  • Overview

    Functions as an extension of the Program Coordinator.  The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the assigned Program and provides overall supervision and training of personnel working with the residents.  The primary duties include planning, supervising, organizing, communicating, and coordinating functions that achieve the team and organizational objectives.


    Performs all duties assigned. Follows and supports Behavioral Treatment Plans and Individual Treatment Plans. Provides residents with an appropriate adult role model. Takes necessary action to ensure that the physical environment of the facility is healthy, safe, and organized. Observes, supports, and remains positive regarding all Company policies and procedures. Observes expectations outlined in the Employee Handbook. Demonstrates a proactive approach in the interacting with residents and ensuring the safety of the facility. Maintains positive and supportive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and staff, in other departments.


    Attends 40 hours per year of related team meetings meetings, staffing, in-services, and other meetings as scheduled. Completes and utilizes documentation and communication systems in a professional, accurate, and timely manner. Performs other duties as delegated by Group Home Manager or administrators, which may not specifically be provided for in this description.




    • Is responsible for the identification and implementation of tasks and activities designed to assist each resident to meet individual goals as identified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Ensures that staff follow resident specific protocols, including medication administration, meal preparation/feeding where necessary, and personal care needs and that protocol are implemented timely. Documents health and hygiene activities as per policy, and ensures the same expectations for RC’s. 


    • Is responsible for developing and actively implements the daily/monthly activity schedule and the community outing schedule. Participates in group activities with Direct Care Staff, managing and coordinating these efforts with members of the team. Implements and supervises activities and individual resident specific protocols and documents residents’ progress on goals, and ensures such documentation from Direct Care Staff.


    • Prepares, distributes and manages schedules for staffing, transportation, activities and outings, assuring adequate individuals and resources are available to meet resident/organization needs. Responsible for assuring adequate supervision at all times. Responds to employee call-ins, secures appropriate coverage; reports these to the Program Coordinator.  Serves as Manager On Call for their program.


    ·         Provides direction to and is a role model for Assistant Program Manager and Direct Care Staff. Demonstrates team member skills in supporting the work efforts and goals of the program, as                well as focusing on building a strong cohesive team. Sets the tone for group home and is visibly present during times of crisis intervention, supporting staff and intervening when necessary. 


    ·         Is responsible for completing bi-annual and annual performance evaluations for all staff they supervise.  Must hold monthly consultation meetings with staff.


    • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility regarding Company and resident funds. Uses Company credit card responsibly, submitting receipts for credit card to the Program Coordinator timely. Responsibly manages receipts relating to resident funds.


    • Performs functions of Direct Care Staff role routinely and as necessary ensuring the personal care and nutritional needs of the residents are met.


    ·         Communicates essential information to Program Coordinator, Assistant Program Manager, Direct Care Staff and external contacts as assigned; demonstrating clear and effective verbal          and written communication skills and adherence to established parameters for confidentiality. 


    • Maintains awareness of all residents and is responsible for ensuring their health, safety and welfare; observes and reinforces all safety rules and regulations, including the use of safety and assistive equipment. Contributes to the cleanliness and overall appearance of the site, grounds and vehicles, and ensures the same from Direct Care Staff on the team.


    • Communicates effectively with residents, Direct Care staff, Program Coordinator and other Company staff to promote meeting the social, daily living, recreational, leisure time, skill development, and personal care and hygiene needs of the residents. Informs appropriate staff of residents’ activities, progress, behaviors and medical concerns. Attends and actively participates in residents’ ISP meetings and medication review meetings.


    • Protects resident rights; reports any violations, complaints, or grievances to Program Coordinator immediately. Reports any suspected participant abuse, whether physical, sexual, or mental/psychological to the Program Coordinator immediately. May assist with investigating any reported violations, complaints or suspected abuse. Takes follow up action when necessary and as directed after consulting with the Program Coordinator and/or Program Coordinator.


    • Maintains quality assurance standards, including maintenance/repair of buildings/grounds/vehicles. Reports issues, concerns, and repair needs to the Program Coordinator. Ensures that cleaning tasks and duties for the site are completed.


    • Completes all essential paperwork, including residents’ progress on goals, Incident Reports, Medication Error Forms, Daily Logs, Resident Funds and other required paperwork per policy accurately within expected time frames.


    • Conducts self in a positive, respectful and collaborative manner in accordance with the ORP Beliefs and Behaviors demonstrating proactive actions and decision making to ensure supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment for residents and staff. Uses and reinforces with others only Agency approved behavior management techniques in interactions with residents. Ensures that only agency approved techniques are used by the Direct Care Staff on the team.


    • Complies with and positively reinforces with other expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety; vehicle operations manual/participant transport guidelines. Maintains confidentiality of residents & staff. Successfully completes all required trainings and refreshers within scheduled time frames.




    • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent; bachelor degree in social or behavioral scince field preferred
    • Must be over 18 years of age
    • Must have a valid Wisconsin Drivers License and acceptable driving record
    • Must have 1 year leadership or supervisory experience
    • Must have 1 year working with those with developmental disabilities
    • Required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. May need to work additional hours to complete job duties and to ensure proper ratios in the programs.
    • Ability to with assistance manage, transfer, and move residents in compliance with agency approved intervention techniques.
    • Requires mental and emotional ability to remain calm, polite, and function effectively during stressful/emergency situations, and with residents who may be unruly, demanding, cognitively challenged or exhibit behavioral outbursts.
    • Bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, walking, standing, running, squatting, and bilateral manual dexterity to perform interventions and other essential job functions.
    • Requires the ability to accompany, participate with and supervise residents on field trips to zoos, amusement parks, public swimming pools, trampoline parks, etc.
    • Ability to sit for periods of up to two hours.
    • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
    • Ability to multitask and flexibility for changes in priorities.
    • Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the program. May need to cover any shift if no coverage is found.
