Are you looking for a career? Do you enjoy making a difference in the lives of others? Would you like experience in Behavioral Health, Human Services or Psychology? If your answer is yes, then we would love to talk to you!
Prader-Willi Homes of Oconomowoc (PWHO) is a 100% employee-owned organization, and we are nationally recognized as the premier provider of care and services for individuals diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder affecting an individual’s sense of hunger. Our group homes provide “homes with a heart” where our clients can grow and enjoy life in a safe, healthy, and nurturing atmosphere. This requires unique skills from our staff but the best part is building relationships with our clients. Our staff accompanies them in community activities such as visiting the zoo, going to a ball game, walking or shopping, but also in all daily cares such as preparing meals, doing laundry and keeping tidy living spaces. The job becomes more than a job when you connect with our clients and become a vital part of their lives!
What will your role be?
PWHO provides a variety of supports to people with varying levels of abilities, in our group homes, on the job or in the communities. Most of these individuals need assistance with tasks such as: household chores, getting ready for work, toileting, grooming, bathing, fun outings in community, taking them to the doctor or assisting them while they are at work.
As an employee of PWHO, you will spend most of your shift in direct contact with the residents who need assistance. Each resident has varying needs for level of cares so your specific duties would vary depending upon your location, the residents you support and the hours you work.
We want the residents we support to be part of their community, so you may spend some of your work hours "out and about". You could be involved in various community activities such as going to a movie, going to the zoo, attending a sporting event or enjoying a picnic at a park.
Starting salary for our caregivers is $11.00 - $13.52 per hour, based on experience and education!
If you work 3rd shift hours, you also receive a differential of $1.00 per hour.
PWHO provides comprehensive benefits to those that work full-time (30+ hours per week) to include:
We are searching for compassionate caregivers to assist our clients in daily cares and activities. As a Co-Owner in Care, you will contribute to the success of PWHO by the following:
